I even made sure I had full control with permissions of the BlackTree Gaming folder on C. and I did have it set correctly.īut I tried changing them to completely different paths (actually tried it twice)īase: X:\Games\Vortex\SkyrimSE (as you suggested)ĭownload: I:\Vortex Downloads\Skyrim\Downloads And maybe this also causes problems, even though Tannin would have to tell us why exactly. There's no reason why you would "pollute" Skyrim's directory with Vortex' files. To be save, why don't you set the base path to " X:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data"

The error message sounds like the actual Install Path is actually " X:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Vortex\mods" If you set "Base" to " X:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Vortex", Install path should actually be The rest use \mods which like 2 different videos said to set it up that way. Install: X:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\modsĭid you mean I need to have the last one Install (mods) outside of it? bcuz I only read that the actual Vortex program install needs to be somewhere else.Īlso, the only thing I've actually entered was the Base. Skyrim SE is installed in: X:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Editionīase: X:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Vortexĭownload: X:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\downloads Vortex is installed in: "C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex\Vortex.exe" Vortex will then use hardlinks to make the game see the mods, even though they're installed outside of the game's directory.

You have to use a separate directory which is outside of the game's directory as the "Install Path". Sounds like you used the game's installation path as the "Install Path" in Vortex. Can you give the exact path where the game is installed as well as ALL the path settings you set in Vortex?
